Slow Performance / Slow Computer
Slow performance can be due to the computer itself, network issues, or a combination of both.
If the computer is running slow, it can be due to many factors. The first thing to try is to restart the computer and see if that helps. Rebooting the computer will allow the computer to start at a clean state (This is why rebooting fixes a lot of IT issues).
If rebooting does not help, checking the task manager (Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc) will help to narrow down the issue. If the CPU usage or RAM usage is high even though not many applications are running, it can be due to unwanted background services running in the background or faulty hardware. Malware or viruses can also cause these issues. High disk usage can be due to similar reasons but it is more likely due to faulty or old hardware.
If the computer or device is extremely outdated, it will likely need to be upgrade or replaced.
Slow internet connection issues can also cause slowness issues but it will be covered in other knowledge base articles.
Please immediately contact the IT Help Desk Team if it is a universal network issue that is occurring to multiple users.
